Enrico Piaggio: Vespa
Synopsis
In 1945, Enrico Piaggio's factory in Pontedera lies in ruins, and the 12,000 workers who once employed there face unemployment and hardship. Feeling the immense weight of responsibility for the well-being of so many families, Piaggio is determined to find a way to create new jobs. He conceives a project for a small, sturdy, agile, and affordable means of transport, one that could help restore mobility and contribute to the country's economic and social recovery. To bring this vision to life, Piaggio enlists engineer Corradino D’Ascanio, a talented designer who applies his aeronautical expertise to develop a scooter that would become an enduring symbol of Italian creativity and design: the Vespa.
