Synopsis
Clive de Roo, a scientist, discovers a new source of seismic activity beneath the Gulf of Waitemata. He warns that a new volcanic eruption could occur within the next few days. However, it proves difficult to convince his skeptical colleagues, and he undertakes efforts to minimize the effects of the potential disaster. When the radio broadcasts discussions about the threat, the public perceives him as a harmless lunatic. Clive's ambitious wife, however, fears that her husband's discovery may deter investors, which would be detrimental to the company where he works.
