Espantapajaros
Synopsis
In the rice fields of the Mexican state of Morelos, a daily battle unfolds between humans and birds over the harvest. The human scarecrow is a rare and distinctive profession in this region, where individuals use playful puns, war cries, and the crack of a whip to deter crows. Their efforts offer a glimpse into an archaic and surreal world, as they contend not only with birds but also with nature and the encroaching forces of modernization that threaten their way of life.
