Synopsis

This short film is adapted from Madame d'Aulnoy's classic fairy tale, *The White Cat*. Originally, *The White Cat* was planned as a feature film musical, which Anna Biller worked on over a period of a couple of years. During this time, she created an original soundtrack, over a hundred costumes, many props, and a children's book. Eventually, realizing the project was somewhat unconventional and expensive to fund, she adapted it for the stage with a cast of eight performers, calling the new version *The Lady Cat*. Both the film and play aimed to capture the complex nature of the character of the White Cat, an enchanted princess who has been transformed into a cat, with all of the perversions and fancies that such a transformation implies. This particular scene focuses on the sexual feelings that are awakened in the two lovers when they witness the arrival of spring.

How many hands made this film

The scale of the collaboration

Principal cast & crew: 5

These are the principals we have on file — the full crew ran to the hundreds. Every film this size was made by far more hands than any credits list ever names.

Why a floor?

This is a minimum, not a total. We only count the credits we’ve captured so far, and coverage is uneven — a blockbuster might show a few hundred names while another of the same size shows a couple dozen. The real crews all ran into the thousands. The number here only grows as full credits are enriched — so we frame it as a floor, never a headcount.
