First Light
Synopsis
In May 1940, feeling the RAF needed every man to fight the Luftwaffe, Geoffrey "Boy" Wellum joined at 18, becoming the youngest ever Spitfire pilot. After intense training, he quickly bonded with the flying men of his squadron. In the air, danger was great, but on the ground, drinks, sports, and girls, in Geoff's case Sarah, provided great comfort. However, over time, the casualties took a grueling psychological toll, until his tour of duty ended after 18 months.
