Synopsis
The Psammead is an ancient, ill-tempered sand-fairy with a spider-shaped body, bat-like ears, and snail-like eyes. Though grumpy in nature, it possesses the ability to grant one wish per day, provided the wish is made before sunset. The story follows five siblings—Cyril, Anthea, Robert, Jane, and infant Hilary—as they encounter the Psammead and navigate the consequences of their frivolous wish-making.
