Forever

Costas and Anna are two individuals living in isolation within a desolate city—Athens. Costas is an engine driver, operating trains that run from one end of the city to the other, following the paths of ancient rivers that were buried and transformed into roads. Anna works at Piraeus, the city’s main harbor, where she sells ferry tickets. This is the place where the rivers once met the sea. Costas knows Anna well. He sees her every morning on the platform at Thiseion, waiting for the train that will take her to Piraeus, and again every afternoon when the train brings her back. Anna, however, does not know Costas. From the window of the train car, she gazes at the same empty city each day, unaware of who is driving the train. When an event disrupts the course of Costas’s life, he chooses to break through his solitude and reach out to Anna.
