Fumoon

Nuclear testing has led to the sudden evolution of the Fumoon, a small but highly intelligent humanoid race living on a remote island. They are discovered by Dr. Yamadano, though few believe him, aside from a few witnesses including detective Shinsaku Ban, and the young men Rock and Kenichi, along with Kenichi’s sister Pichi (Pinoko). The Fumoon are abducting animals from around the world to accompany them as they prepare to evacuate Earth using their spaceships, aware that the planet is about to be destroyed by a cloud of black gas resulting from a stellar explosion. While the Fumoon intend to leave humanity behind, one of them, Rokoko, who forms a friendship with Kenichi, attempts to assist Dr. Yamadano and others in building a spaceship to enable a few humans to escape, with the help of Dr. Ochanomizu and Dr. Frankenstein.
