Ex-professional cyclist Simon Richardson has raced road, cyclocross, and mountain bikes for years - but the world of ultra racing is totally new to him. Jumping in at the deep end, Si takes part in the 400-mile ultra race ‘Further East’ - a gruelling mixed terrain course around the East of England. Racers will embark on a totally self supported gravel route that takes in the Cambridge levels and the Norfolk Broads. They’ll be expected to continue to race non-stop through the night if they want to win. What will an ultra rookie make of this unknown challenge? Will the threat of marauding cows and losing his mind to James Blunt lyrics waylay his effort? This gritty, sometimes comical, always compelling film will follow a total novice as he delves into the world of ultra cycle racing for the first time.
