Synopsis
Set in the shadowy black markets and war-damaged neighborhoods of post–World War II Tokyo, a group of hardened prostitutes struggle to survive in a brutal, chaotic world, clinging to fragile friendships and a fragile sense of order. When a rebellious former soldier enters their lives, tensions over desire and allegiance erupt, leading to devastating consequences. *Gate of Flesh*, directed by Seijun Suzuki, blends sharp social commentary with pulp storytelling, marked by vivid color and intense emotion.
