Synopsis

Anna, a woman from Berlin, is on vacation with her twelve-year-old son, Max, on an island in Southeast Asia. The film opens with a disorienting shot of Anna panicking underwater before shifting to a more conventional portrayal of their holiday, showcasing idyllic postcard images of the tropical paradise. This peaceful atmosphere is subtly disrupted by darker, intercut scenes featuring a group of locals whose ominous behavior hints at trouble. The vacation is soon violently interrupted when the men are revealed to be pirates who take the resort's guests hostage. Anna manages to escape and, in a decisive act, sets fire to the pirates' boats to prevent their escape from the island.
