Synopsis
The seven short films that make up *Genius Party* are highly diverse, connected primarily by their consistent quality and creative inspiration. Atsuko Fukushima's introductory piece presents a striking visual abstraction. Masaaki Yuasa, known for *Mind Game* and *Cat Soup*, contributes "Happy Machine," which showcases his signature graphic style and dreamlike logic, reimagining a child's first year. Shinji Kimura's "Deathtic 4" explores the darker aspects of a child's imagination with eerie charm. Hideki Futamura's "Limit Cycle" offers a vision of virtual reality, while Yuji Fukuyama's "Doorbell" and Shinichiro Watanabe's "Baby Blue" use subtle realism to achieve surreal effects. Shoji Kawamori's "Shanghai Dragon" playfully reworks traditional anime conventions into an entertaining narrative.
