Synopsis

Kingdom Swann, a once-successful classical portraitist, finds his career in decline after a leading gallery rejects his work, pushing him close to giving up. His housekeeper, Violet Askey, provides the support that keeps him going and encourages him to switch to photography. Swann soon establishes a profitable and respectable business, producing portraits of naked women in classical and exotic settings. However, his new work attracts controversy and misinterpretation, drawing him into a scandal involving a SOHO pornographer who misuses his images. He also becomes the target of a campaign by suffragettes protesting the exploitation of women. At the same time, Violet withdraws her support after jumping to the wrong conclusion about Swann's relationship with one of his models. As Violet becomes involved in the suffragette and anti-pornography movements, Swann faces the possibility of losing both his professional standing and personal connection with her.

How many hands made this film

The scale of the collaboration

Principal cast & crew: 20

These are the principals we have on file — the full crew ran to the hundreds. Every film this size was made by far more hands than any credits list ever names.

Why a floor?

This is a minimum, not a total. We only count the credits we’ve captured so far, and coverage is uneven — a blockbuster might show a few hundred names while another of the same size shows a couple dozen. The real crews all ran into the thousands. The number here only grows as full credits are enriched — so we frame it as a floor, never a headcount.
