Synopsis
Though not the first feature-length animated film, as is sometimes believed, it was the first cartoon to feature a character with an appealing personality. The introduction of a true character set it apart from earlier animated "trick films," such as those by Blackton and Cohl, and established it as a predecessor to later popular cartoons, including those by Walt Disney. The film was also the first to be created using keyframe animation.
