Getting Fat in a Healthy Way

Bulgarian director Kevork Aslanyan’s European Short Film Festival-winning sci-fi short follows a man striving to overcome a formidable obstacle for love. Set in a dystopian post-communist world, the film centers on Constantine and his father Atanas, who live together in a small apartment in a dilapidated building. A tragic accident has disrupted gravity on Earth beyond repair, causing anyone weighing less than 120 kilograms to float into space. Constantine, who weighs only 60 kilograms, is unable to leave the apartment and chooses not to. Confined to the flat and affected by the erratic behavior of a household gravitational normalizer, Constantine maintains a near-normal existence, content to spend his days watching the world from his window. His routine is disrupted when a plump stewardess moves in next door.
