Professor Jonathan Caine, an immensely successful academic renowned for his expertise in entomology, has released a new book centered on his primary field of study: ants. While respected globally for his work, his relationship with his daughter, Audrey Caine, a radio personality, is strained due to his frequent absences. Seeking to mend their bond, Caine is unexpectedly called to deliver a lecture on ants to Niles Industries, a secretive multinational corporation, in a remote location in the Colorado wilderness. Audrey, meanwhile, is increasingly concerned about her father's situation. Her worries intensify when a giant ant escapes, prompting Caine to go missing. The escaped ant emits a powerful sonic signal that spreads across the globe, triggering the sudden appearance of giant ants in multiple locations.
