Synopsis
Kate Mossman explores the often-repeated question faced by many female rock musicians: what is it like being a girl in a band? Despite their talent and presence, the sight of a woman playing guitar or drumming with intensity is still seen as unusual by many. From the moment women began forming their own bands, they were often categorized—labeled as the rock chick, the girl band, or part of a rock 'n' roll couple. Mossman aims to move beyond the clichés of fallen angels, grunge babes, and rock chicks to uncover the untold stories from the frontlines of rock, examining whether being a woman in a band has always been a unique experience.
