Girlfriends

Apprentice hairdresser Solange is skilled at teasing hair and cutting styles but has little knowledge of sexual relationships and is eager to learn more. She comes from a small working-class town near Toulouse, where she lives with her attractive mother, who reluctantly works as a babysitter, and her father, who raises ostriches. Her best friend at beauty school is an African immigrant named Gary, who fears being sent back to her home country for an arranged marriage. Gary provides Solange with advice as she seeks to understand more about intimacy. Although there is a boy at her vocational school that Solange is interested in, she wants to gain more experience and understanding before becoming intimate with him.
