Synopsis

For his entire life, wealthy businessman Wesley Deeds has done what he could to avoid politics. However, after his friend and fellow businessman, Whit Babcock, is killed in a car accident, Deeds is convinced to run for the U.S. Senate. With the help of his nephew, Joe, and political strategist Patsy Donleavy, Deeds launches a campaign based on honesty and integrity, contrasting sharply with the corruption and manipulation of the political machine led by the rival candidate, Senator Merriwether. As the election unfolds, Deeds faces increasing pressure and challenges that test his principles and commitment to his ideals.
