Grenzgang
Synopsis
Every seven years, the "border crossing" is celebrated in the Upper Hessian town of Bergen. The folk festival is marked by lively and chaotic scenes, as municipal boundaries are ceremoniously reaffirmed in a tradition that turns things upside down. For this occasion, Thomas Weidmann leaves his girlfriend and flees from Berlin to his hometown, escaping the failures of his academic career. At the festival, he meets Kerstin Werner, whose life is in turmoil—her marriage has ended, and her husband, Jürgen, is on the verge of leaving her for a younger woman.
