Synopsis
Heidi is an orphan who is initially raised by her aunt, Dete, in Maienfeld, Switzerland. To secure a job in Frankfurt, Dete sends 5-year-old Heidi to live with her grandfather, a man who has long been at odds with the villagers and lives in isolation on the alm. Initially resistant to Heidi's presence, the grandfather gradually warms to her, and Heidi enjoys a happy time with him and her closest companion, the young goat-herd Peter.
