Heimat ist kein Ort

Klaus, an unemployed taxi driver, Uwe, a gay dog sitter, and Inge, a strict nurse, all had difficult childhoods. Inge's mother died at a young age, and her father subsequently abandoned the family. Now that the old man has passed away, the long-feared visit to the notary is finally upon them. Klaus, Uwe, Inge, and their daughter Jule hope to inherit money and property, but they are surprised by an unusual will. According to its terms, they must scatter the ashes of the deceased in significant locations from his East Prussian homeland. Accompanied by the young Polish notary Krzysztow, who is tasked with overseeing the process, they set out on a journey that leads them close to a Polish prison and eventually to a wedding, where they gain a deeper understanding not only of their father but also of themselves.
