Heirloom

A young girl in 1960s Ahmedabad discovers a magical heirloom that unlocks her family’s hidden past, but must protect its power from those who would exploit it.

Synopsis

The Indo-French animated feature 'Heirloom' has finalized its co-production with Condor Films and received a grant from the CNC's Aide aux Cinémas du Monde program. The film is the debut feature of Upamanyu Bhattacharyya, who previously won the City of Annecy Award in 2020 for his short film 'Wade.' Set in Ahmedabad in 1960, 'Heirloom' is a period family fantasy that blends Indian and French creative collaboration. The funding and co-production agreement mark significant progress for the project ahead of its production phase.

How many hands made this film

The scale of the collaboration

Principal cast & crew: 10

These are the principals we have on file — the full crew ran to the hundreds. Every film this size was made by far more hands than any credits list ever names.

Why a floor?

This is a minimum, not a total. We only count the credits we’ve captured so far, and coverage is uneven — a blockbuster might show a few hundred names while another of the same size shows a couple dozen. The real crews all ran into the thousands. The number here only grows as full credits are enriched — so we frame it as a floor, never a headcount.
