Jakob Moormann is a shy, sensitive high school student who struggles with a lack of emotional support at home. His father, Claas, a uniformed police officer, and his self-centered mother are too preoccupied with their ongoing divorce to provide him with stability. Jakob directs his attention toward Hannah, a popular girl in his class, though he has little success in connecting with her. A video of him masturbating, secretly recorded, is carelessly shared by his mother and falls into the hands of classmates Henry and Erik, who use it to blackmail him. They post the video online, leading to a public humiliation.
