Nick and Jacob race against time by hot‑tub‑traveling to 2025 to uncover and stop the unknown assailant who shot their friend Lou, before his death rewrites their future.

Synopsis
After their initial adventure in *Hot Tub Time Machine*, Lou and Nick enjoy the benefits of their ill-gotten gains, while Jacob continues to struggle with Lou's negative influence. When Lou is shot by an unknown assailant during a break-in at his mansion, Nick and Jacob take him back to the hot tub for another time-traveling trip. They arrive in the year 2025, where they must uncover the identity of Lou's attacker and find a way to prevent the shooting from occurring.
