Synopsis

A harsh sun, a dry land, and a failing economy have left a small Texas town in ruins. For ten years, Promise, Texas has endured one hardship after another. It is now barren, broken, and on the brink of collapse, filled with a population weighed down by despair. When a couple discovers a boy walking alone along a dusty road, carrying nothing but a mat under his arm, they stop to help him. What they do not yet know is that he has come to help them and the people of Promise. No one knows his identity or where he is from. Some believe he is a divine answer to their prayers. Others suspect he is a runaway or a false prophet. The only thing the boy says about himself is that he is there to help. The town's sheriff, Brody, is determined to uncover the truth. But Brody also struggles to keep a dying town from falling apart. As miracles begin to unfold, the residents of Promise come to embrace the boy. Written by Mike Norris.

How many hands made this film

The scale of the collaboration

Principal cast & crew: 19

These are the principals we have on file — the full crew ran to the hundreds. Every film this size was made by far more hands than any credits list ever names.

Why a floor?

This is a minimum, not a total. We only count the credits we’ve captured so far, and coverage is uneven — a blockbuster might show a few hundred names while another of the same size shows a couple dozen. The real crews all ran into the thousands. The number here only grows as full credits are enriched — so we frame it as a floor, never a headcount.
