Synopsis
At 39, James is still living with his mother in Chicago, working as an aging performer at Second City, where he struggles with weight and self-doubt. A woman he has been dating ends their relationship, as does her brother, who is his agent. James begins to turn down roles in local television, finding them disheartening. A remake of his favorite film, *Marty*, is in the works, featuring a role he would deeply want, but he is not even given the chance for an audition.
