Ich werde nicht schweigen

A post-war TV drama focusing on a harrowing episode in Nazi history, the series features Nadja Uhl portraying a psychiatric patient subjected to "wild" euthanasia. Set in Oldenburg in 1948, it follows Margaret Oelkers (Uhl), a war widow struggling to support herself and her two young sons with a meager pension. Despite her efforts to secure employment, the authorities are uncooperative, especially due to the lack of documentation regarding her husband's wartime death. After a brief and energetic visit to an office, she is sent to the Wehnen nursing home's psychiatric ward as a trainee. The outcome is devastating: she is diagnosed with schizophrenia, her children are taken from her and sent to live with a relative in the countryside. For a year, Margarete is held in the hospital against her will and subjected to electric shock treatments. Upon her release, she is placed under the guardianship of her neighbor Erich Windhorst (Martin Wuttke), a man with a past in the SS.
