If We Had No Moon

Without the Moon, humans likely wouldn't exist. Life, if it had begun at all, would be in its earliest evolutionary stages. Days would last only four hours, winds would reach hurricane force, and the atmosphere would be dense and toxic, similar to that of Venus. Around 50 million years after the formation of the solar system, a Mars-sized planet named Theia collided with the newly formed Proto-Earth. The impact ejected material from both bodies into orbit around Earth, which eventually coalesced to form the Moon. In this one-hour special, viewers learn about what Earth was like before the Moon-forming impact and what Earth might have been like if the Moon had never existed.
