Synopsis
Michael Winterbottom's film *In This World* follows young Afghan Jamal and his older cousin Enayat as they leave their refugee camp in Peshawar, north‑west Pakistan, for a hazardous overland journey. They enter Turkey on foot through a snowy pass controlled by Kurdish forces, then risk suffocation when they are locked inside a freight container on a ship bound for Italy. From there they intend to travel onward to Paris, the Sangatte refugee centre, and ultimately seek asylum in London.
