In a near-future setting, a specialized government unit known as an Interception Team is deployed to address a new alien threat. When an alien scout ship crashes in eastern Russia, soldier Sean Lambert and his elite team are sent to investigate. They encounter a formidable, seven-foot-tall shape-shifting alien determined to destroy a Russian nuclear power plant, triggering a nuclear winter that would devastate humanity. The conflict takes a personal turn when the alien recognizes Lambert as the one who killed its mate four years earlier. A major battle ensues as the Interceptor Team fights to prevent the alien from carrying out its destructive mission and saving Earth from annihilation.
