A young couple, Pauline and Alex, moves from Paris to a quiet neighborhood in the French countryside. Pauline enjoys tending to her garden and plants. She becomes fascinated by her older neighbor, Gilles, who lives alone. They spend a significant amount of time together, with Gilles helping her with her garden. Eventually, he gives her a special plant from Brazil as a gift. The plant requires a great deal of attention and is sensitive to the mood around it. As the plant grows, it consumes more and more of Pauline's time, putting her relationship with Alex at risk.
