It Happened One Christmas
Synopsis
It is Christmas Eve 1944 in the small town of Bedford Falls, New York. Mary Bailey Hatch, despondent and suicidal, is praying for guidance regarding an incident not of her making, which threatens her reputation and that of her family's longtime business, the Bailey Building and Loan, which she now runs following her father's death. What Mary does not know is that many in the town, including her husband George Hatch and their children, are also praying for her. All the prayers are heard by Joseph, God's gatekeeper of prayers. With no other angels available on such a busy day, Joseph assigns Clara Oddbody, an angel second class (meaning she has yet to receive her wings), to Mary's case. He does so reluctantly, as Clara has never been given a case on her own in the two hundred years she has spent in heaven, and for good reason.
