Jean-Luc persécuté
Synopsis
Jean-Luc is a mountain farmer who marries Christine, who agrees to the union because the man she truly loves, Augustin, has left her. Jean-Luc is aware of this but hopes that the birth of a child might bring them a sense of shared life. However, the pressures of daily farm work and the routine of Sunday mass gradually erode their relationship. When Augustin returns, Christine begins an affair with him. Jean-Luc discovers the betrayal and drives Christine away, left alone with their child. Shortly afterward, the child drowns in a pond. Unable to accept his son's death, Jean-Luc spirals into madness. Years later, upon seeing Christine with Augustin's child, he is overcome by jealousy and kills both Christine and the child before taking his own life.
