Jeanetta Cochrane
Synopsis
More consciously experimental than Whitehead's other works, this film incorporates material from various sources, including footage of London taken during Whitehead's time at the Slade School of Art, brief appearances by singer and model Nico, and scenes from the psychedelic underground nightclub UFO. The film also features on-screen text and a voice offering commentary, accompanied by music from Pink Floyd, who were still led by Syd Barrett—Whitehead's former painting classmate from Cambridge. The track used, "Interstellar Overdrive," was recorded by Whitehead before the band signed with EMI and is more energetic and beat-driven than the version later released by the label. There is no direct connection between the film's content and the Cochrane Theatre, after which it is named, though the theatre had been a venue for the Spontaneous Festival of Underground Films in 1966.

How many hands made this film
The scale of the collaboration
Principal cast & crew: 3
These are the principals we have on file — the full crew ran to the hundreds. Every film this size was made by far more hands than any credits list ever names.
Why a floor?
This is a minimum, not a total. We only count the credits we’ve captured so far, and coverage is uneven — a blockbuster might show a few hundred names while another of the same size shows a couple dozen. The real crews all ran into the thousands. The number here only grows as full credits are enriched — so we frame it as a floor, never a headcount.
