Permut Presentations has acquired the life rights of Jon-Adrian 'JJ' Velazquez, who spent nearly 24 years in prison for a murder he did not commit. The company also secured the rights to NBC News journalist Dan Slepian's reporting on Velazquez's case. The narrative feature will focus on Velazquez's decades-long collaboration with Slepian, who played a key role in highlighting the wrongful conviction. The film aims to chronicle their efforts to overturn the conviction and shed light on the flaws in the justice system.
