Synopsis

The film is based on the true story of Jodi Arias, a 28-year-old aspiring photographer who was found guilty of killing her former lover, Travis Alexander, who was discovered nude in his home shower with a slit throat, 27 additional stab wounds, and a bullet to the head. During the investigation into the violent killing, Mesa, Arizona police recovered a digital camera from Alexander’s washing machine, which contained images authorities claim Arias took during their sexual encounters, as well as during and after the murder. Arias pleaded not guilty and asserted that she killed Alexander in self-defense. Police, however, concluded that after he ended their relationship, she stalked him and seduced him one final time before killing him in cold blood. Her trial became a widely publicized event, dominating cable news networks as she testified in her own defense and provided explicit details about the sex, lies, and obsession that preceded Alexander’s murder.
