Katharina Luther
Synopsis
As a nun, Katharina von Bora follows the path expected of her until the early 1520s, when she is introduced to the ideas of Martin Luther through his writings. Inspired by these new thoughts, she flees the convent with several of her fellow nuns. Arriving in Wittenberg without legal status, financial means, or the support of her family, she meets Martin Luther in person. Katharina chooses to marry the reformer, and as his wife, she becomes a respected housekeeper, an equal conversation partner, and the mother of their children.
