Kingdom of Felony
Synopsis
Diane of Meridor, 23 years old, lives a peaceful life in the countryside with her father. For the first time, she attends a coming-out ball organized by the Count of Monsoreau, an older man who develops a possessive and jealous affection for her and wishes to marry her. At the ball, the Duke of Anjou dances with Diane and attempts to take advantage of her, using his status as the king’s brother. Taking this as an opportunity, Monsoreau kidnaps the young woman and informs her father that the Duke of Anjou—known for his seductive behavior—has abducted her. To protect her honor, Monsoreau offers to marry her. Her father, heartbroken, agrees. Diane is thus forced to marry the Count of Monsoreau. From that moment on, she is introduced to the court and becomes closely involved in the various plots aimed at betraying the king, gradually discovering the bitter reality of deceit surrounding her.
