Synopsis

Swedish efficiency researchers travel to Norway to conduct a study on Norwegian men, focusing on how they use their kitchens. Folke Nilsson (Tomas Norström) is tasked with observing the habits of Isak Bjørvik (Joachim Calmeyer). According to the rules of the research institute, Folke must sit in an umpire's chair in Isak's kitchen and watch him without speaking. In response, Isak stops using his kitchen and instead observes Folke through a hole in the ceiling. Over time, the two lonely men gradually overcome the initial post-war distrust between Norwegians and Swedes and develop a friendship.
