The final call for the flight to Stockholm is announced over the airport speakers. Shadi stands outside the gate, gripping her mother's skirt as tightly as she can. The mother gently strokes Shadi's braided hair before finally pulling her fingers away from her daughter. A man then helps Shadi onto the plane. At eleven years old, she is alone, traveling to an unfamiliar world. She arrives at an orphanage in Stockholm that cares for unaccompanied children. However, flashbacks of the war and recurring nightmares make it difficult for Shadi to distinguish between reality and fantasy. All she longs for is to be reunited with her mother. One night, she believes she hears her mother's voice calling to her in the hallway.
