La joie de vivre
Synopsis
At the end of the 19th century, an orphan is taken in by her aunt and uncle in Normandy. She is not only accepted out of kindness but also because she possesses a substantial inheritance held in trust. As she grows up, she develops feelings for her cousin, a man who lacks ambition and direction, and later assists him financially in his time of need. After her aunt's death, she assumes responsibility for managing the household and supports the family financially. Her intended marriage to her cousin falls through when a rival enters the picture. The story follows a selfless woman who, despite facing disappointments and a difficult life, refuses to let these hardships rob her of joy.

How many hands made this film
The scale of the collaboration
Principal cast & crew: 19
These are the principals we have on file — the full crew ran to the hundreds. Every film this size was made by far more hands than any credits list ever names.
Why a floor?
This is a minimum, not a total. We only count the credits we’ve captured so far, and coverage is uneven — a blockbuster might show a few hundred names while another of the same size shows a couple dozen. The real crews all ran into the thousands. The number here only grows as full credits are enriched — so we frame it as a floor, never a headcount.
