Lantouri
Synopsis
Lantouri is a gang that muggers people in broad daylight on Tehran’s streets and breaks into homes in the city’s affluent northern district. The gang also kidnaps children from families who have become wealthy through corruption and embezzlement of state funds. The film opens with confessions from individual gang members, and includes commentary from sociologists, human‑rights activists and political hardliners. Gang member Pasha runs amok after Maryam, a socially committed and self‑confident journalist, does not reciprocate his feelings. The badly injured young woman demands lex talionis—the Iranian law of “an eye for an eye.”
