Synopsis
Filmmaker Ira Sachs, who first moved to New York City in 1984, explores the impact of the AIDS crisis in his elegiac film *Last Address*. The work features images of the exteriors of homes, apartment buildings, and lofts where artists such as Keith Haring, Robert Mapplethorpe, Norman René, Peter Hujar, Ethyl Eichelberger, Felix Gonzalez-Torres, Cookie Mueller, and Klaus Nomi lived at the time of their deaths. These artists are among the countless New York-based creators who lost their lives to AIDS over the past 30 years. The film serves as both a tribute to their memory and a reflection on the enduring influence of their work in contemporary culture.
