Synopsis

On a spring day, Mike Horn left his wife and two daughters at the shore to embark on a solo journey around the globe along the equator. Traveling on foot, by dugout canoe, sailboat, and bicycle, he crossed three oceans and two continents, staying within forty kilometers of the equator at all times. In this account, he describes how a lone individual navigates through nature, at the mercy of whether it allows passage. In the Brazilian rainforest, a snake bite left him blind for four days while he remained semi-conscious. However, the most significant threat came from humanity itself and its conflicts. In Africa, rebels captured Mike Horn and sentenced him to death, from which he barely escaped. He undertook this journey to fulfill a personal dream and to explore the relationship between nature and humanity. The story reveals a man who experiences fear, wonder, and pain, yet continues moving forward.

How many hands made this film

The scale of the collaboration

Principal cast & crew: 5

These are the principals we have on file — the full crew ran to the hundreds. Every film this size was made by far more hands than any credits list ever names.

Why a floor?

This is a minimum, not a total. We only count the credits we’ve captured so far, and coverage is uneven — a blockbuster might show a few hundred names while another of the same size shows a couple dozen. The real crews all ran into the thousands. The number here only grows as full credits are enriched — so we frame it as a floor, never a headcount.
