Lera

Lera Meshcherikova, twenty years old, has a strained relationship with her mother, Tatiana. Her father, grandmother, and aunt Olga support her, but their indecision and lack of firmness leave Lera to defend her choices on her own. Tatiana is unable to accept that her daughter is marrying Denis, a man from a poor family, and secretly tells Lera that she is not a biological Meshcherikova but was adopted. Lera moves in with Denis, and gradually her life improves: she reconciles with her father, who helps Denis find a job; Denis is happy to learn that Lera is pregnant; and Tatiana is forced to accept her daughter's marriage.
