Synopsis
Instead of sending a written explanation for his absence from the press conference for his latest film at the Cannes Film Festival, *Goodbye to Language*, legendary filmmaker Jean-Luc Godard created a video titled "Letter in motion to (Cannes president) Gilles Jacob and (artistic director) Thierry Fremaux." The video alternates between Godard speaking cryptically about his "path" and key scenes from his classic films such as *Alphaville* and *King Lear*, which features Burgess Meredith and Molly Ringwald. It also includes quotes from poet Jacques Prévert and philosopher Hannah Arendt.
