Synopsis
Through the perspectives of key figures such as captain Leah Williamson and manager Sarina Wiegman, this documentary recounts England’s remarkable European Championship victory in July 2022. It was the first time a senior England football team had won a major tournament since 1966, as the women’s team secured a memorable 2-1 victory in the final against long-time rivals Germany. The film highlights pivotal moments from the tournament, with candid interviews featuring Williamson, tournament player of the tournament Beth Mead, and established players Jill Scott, Ellen White, and Lucy Bronze providing behind-the-scenes insight. BBC analysts Gabby Logan, Ian Wright, Alex Scott, and Fara Williams also share their reflections on what proved to be a landmark summer for women’s football and female athletes more broadly.
