Synopsis

A story follows a young boy who becomes electively mute after witnessing what he believes to be his older brother killing a teenage boy. The older brother urges him not to speak about it, warning of the trouble it would cause the family, and the boy stops speaking altogether. His mutism, which he comes to enjoy due to the acceptance it brings from others, leads his loving and caring farm family to the brink of financial ruin as they spend large sums on medical and psychological treatments in an effort to help him. Based on a true story, the film offers an intelligent portrayal of a family in crisis and the efforts of medical professionals to address the boy's mental illness.

How many hands made this film

The scale of the collaboration

Principal cast & crew: 19

These are the principals we have on file — the full crew ran to the hundreds. Every film this size was made by far more hands than any credits list ever names.

Why a floor?

This is a minimum, not a total. We only count the credits we’ve captured so far, and coverage is uneven — a blockbuster might show a few hundred names while another of the same size shows a couple dozen. The real crews all ran into the thousands. The number here only grows as full credits are enriched — so we frame it as a floor, never a headcount.
