Los que ligan
Synopsis
Los Que Ligan is an early animated political satire that uses humor and caricature to examine the aftermath of World War I through the lens of global diplomacy. The film focuses on the power dynamics between England, Germany, France, and Argentina in the context of the League of Nations' postwar sanctions, offering a pointed critique of the instability of international relations and Argentina's position in the global order. Created by pioneering animator Quirino Cristiani, it is one of the few surviving works from his career and highlights the satirical, politically engaged style for which he was known. Once believed lost, the film was rediscovered during research for Gabriele Zucchelli’s 2008 documentary *Quirino Cristiani: The Mystery of the First Animated Movies*, allowing modern audiences to view a rare example of early animated political cinema and gain insight into Cristiani’s artistic legacy.
